Innovation

ASG Services was the first company to utilise colour laser printing to give both the person reading the label the benefit of colour coding and the scanner the contrast for black and white scanning.

Traditionally this would have been done with  2 labels. This is now an industry standard set by ASG Services.

Floor shaving technology for warehouse line marking was also introduced by ASG Services in 2005.

The previous method of controlled shot blasting meant that the edge of the line was aesthetically poor.
This method of line marking has now been adopted by another UK industrial flooring company and it won't be long before others follow suit.
This technology was adapted from the nuclear decontamination industry and modified for the purposes of line marking.
Many UK and American warehouses now have used this form of preparation for line marking and include B&Q, Next, DHL, Osram Sylvania, QVC and Co-op.

ASG Services has applied for a Queens award for innovation for this product. We are expecting a descision in April 2009 and are hopeful rather than confident.

Load Safety signs are used by the UK racking industry as a standard item. Traditionally these signs were produced using screen printing methods and over sticking labels after initial production to specify the SWL data required.

When ASG moved over to full colour printing we were able to print the signs to a sinle label and install the label to a sheet of plastic.

This was still not great as the communication between the customer and ASG often meant mistakes and delays occurred.

Then following a conversation with John Noffinger, who is CEO of the Materials Handling Industry of America, we automated the design by way of an interactive web site where the client inputs the information to the site and the site itself generates a finished design for us to print. Other back end systems were built into the site that also remove the majority of the paperwork from the ordering process.

In March 2008, Link 51 the UK's largest manufactuer of palet racking and shelving moved their safety sign contract to ASG in order to save their design staff time on this task.

ASG Services LLC is currently work with the Rack Manufactures Institute in North America to create a similar safety sign standard that will use this system of sign generation.
